Change the Batteries

The first thing you need to do when you are experiencing issues with your remote is to check the batteries. If you have not replaced the batteries on your remote for a very long time, your remote will not work effectively as the batteries might be weakened. Hence, changing the batteries on your remote will make it work again.

Change the Batteries
BUY BATTERIES FROM AMAZON

So, remove the battery panel at the back of the remote and eject the batteries. Clean the battery compartment with a cloth and insert a fresh pair of quality batteries. When inserting the batteries, make sure that they are placed properly by looking at the positive and negative diodes.

Clean the Walker TV Remote

If you find some of the buttons on your remote are not working and they are very hard to operate, there is a possibility that your remote will be clogged with dust particles. This will happen if you haven’t cleaned the remote for a very long time. Due to this, dust particles might accumulate under the remote buttons, preventing the buttons from responding back.

Walker TV Remote Not Working - Clean the Remote
BUY ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL FROM AMAZON

Take a fresh cloth and clean the remote buttons gently using water or an isopropyl alcohol. After cleaning the remote, make sure to press all the buttons once. Doing this will release the buttons that are jammed with dirt and debris. Now, try to operate your remote by pointing it towards your TV. If it does not respond, you can move to the next step.

Clear the Remote Obstructions

If your Walker TV remote functions only when operated at a particular angle, then there might be obstructions that block the remote signals. Make sure that the line of sight between your TV and your remote is clear. If you have placed any object in between the line of sight, move them away and operate the remote in a short range.

Also, if you have kept any electronic devices near your TV, that may interfere with the remote signals and block them from reaching your TV. So, make sure to move the electromagnetic devices far away from your TV if you have placed them near it. Once you have cleared the obstructions, try operating your remote. If your Walker TV remote is not working, go to the next fix.

Re-pair the Walker TV Remote

There is a possibility that your remote will unpair automatically from the TV if you haven’t used it for quite a long time. You can check whether your remote is paired or not by pressing its buttons. If your TV responds only to the Power and Volume buttons, you can confirm that your TV is unpaired. By repairing your Walker remote again, you can fix this issue. If you have a Walker TiVo TV, you can pair your remote using the following steps.

1. Press the TV Power and TiVo buttons for 5 seconds until the LED light on your Walker remote turns on.

2. Type the code 0 9 9 9 using the number keys on your remote. Once you enter the code, the LED light on the Walker remote will blink thrice.

3. Press the Channel Up button continuously at an interval of 2 seconds. Your TV will turn off, and it will be paired once it finds the right code.

After pairing the remote with your Walker TV, if the remote is not working properly, go to the next step.

Reset the Walker TV Remote

If your Walker TV remote is not working even after pairing it with your TV, there might be a software bug in the remote. You can reset your Walker TV remote to fix the issue. You can also reset your remote if you can’t pair your Walker remote with your TV. The steps to reset your Walker TV remote are as follows.

1. Take your Walker remote and remove its batteries.

2. Press the Power button on your Walker remote for 10 seconds to drain all the residual power.

3. Also, press all the buttons on your remote once.

4. Then, insert the batteries on your remote properly by looking at the positive and negative polarities.

Your Walker TV remote will be reset. Repair your remote with your TV and use it.

Inspect the Remote’s IR Emitter

If your Walker TV remote is experiencing issues even after you perform a reset, then you need to check the IR emitter on your remote. Inspect whether the IR emitter on your remote is covered with dirt or dust. If so, take a soft cloth and clean the glass area to remove the dirt. You can also use a cleaning solution to clear the dirt if it is hard to remove. Now, you have cleared the dust particles that block the infrared signals that reach your TV.

Walker TV Remote Not Working - IR Emitter

Then, you need to check if the IR emitter on your remote is working properly or not. To check that, take your smartphone and open the camera app. Point the IR emitter of your remote towards the camera and press any buttons on the remote. If the light passes through the camera, it means that the IR remote is working properly. If not, the issue is with your TV’s IR emitter. You can fix the problem by repairing the IR emitter on your remote.

Try These Remote Alternatives

Since there is no customer support for Walker TV, you can’t replace the remote by contacting them. In such cases, try these alternatives to control your Walker TV.

  • Remote App: If you own an Android or iPhone, you can use the Walker TV Remote app to control it. You can use the TiVo remote app to control your Walker TV if it is running on the TiVo OS. For non-smart TVs, you can use the IR remote app as a substitute.
  • Keyboard or Mouse: Buy a keyboard or mouse from Amazon and use it to control your Walker TV without a remote. Just plug the USB dongle of your keyboard or mouse into the Walker TV’s port. Then, use the arrow keys or mouse pointer to control your TV.

Rather, you can purchase a universal remote from Amazon if you are not comfortable using remote apps or a keyboard.
