Does your Sky Q box have a blinking amber light and display a no-signal message? No need to fret. In such cases, you can reset the Sky Q box with or without a remote to restore its functions to a default state. If your Sky Q box has a reset button, you can reset it in a single click by pressing that button. If you have an iPhone, you can install and use the Sky Go app to reset the Sky Q box seamlessly. Soft Reset Sky Q Box Without Remote
If your Sky Q box has minor issues, you can try soft resetting it. The process is simple and quick, and you can do it yourself without seeking assistance.
- Press the Power button on the Sky Q Box.
- Once the device turns off, remove its power cable from the electric socket.
- After a few minutes, plug the power cable back into the socket.
- Press and release the Power button to turn on the Sky Q box.
- Thus, the soft resetting is successful.
If you continue to have issues with your Sky Q box, it is better to factory reset the device.
Factory Reset Sky Q Box With Reset Button
Some Sky Q boxes come with a Reset button by default. You can locate this button at the back of the box. After finding the Reset button, long-press on it. Release the button when the Sky Q box’s power light blinks. You have successfully factory reset the Sky Q Box.
Reset Sky Q Box Using Sky Go App
Are you using an iPhone? If so, there is good news. You can rely on the Sky Go app on an iPhone and use it as a virtual remote to control your Sky Q or Sky Q Mini box. The Sky Go app is compatible with devices running iOS 13.0 or up. Run the app on your iPhone and pair it with your Sky Q box.
1. Using the remote app, head to the Sky Q Box home screen and tap Settings.
2. Use the number pad on the remote interface and type 0 0 1.
3. Now, a reset option will emerge on the screen.
4. Choose the Reset option. The following reset options will appear.
- Reset Settings: This sets all the device settings to default. Data stored on the device will not be erased.
- Reset hard drive: This erases all the current and scheduled recordings on the Sky Q box. However, the recording can be restored.
- Factory Reset:Â This will permanently erase the Sky Q box and restore it to its out-of-box state. You cannot retrieve any stored data after this action.
5. From these resetting options, select the respective Reset option you want to initiate on the Sky Q box.
The Sky Go app remote feature is presently available for iOS. For Android devices, you can rely on third-party remote apps, as shown below.
If your Sky Q Box doesn’t have a reset button or does not support remote apps, use a universal remote. You only need to program a universal remote with your Sky Q Box using remote codes. Afterward, go to the Sky Q box settings and perform a reset.
