Clear the Sigal Interference

If the Firestick remote is flashing green but not working, it is a sign that its signals are interrupted by other devices. So, make sure that no objects or devices like baby monitors, microwave sound, or radio signals are near your Firestick device. If any obstructing objects were found, replace them and press any buttons on the remote. If the remote still blinks green, move to the next fix.

Use the Fire TV Remote in a Closer Range

You must use the remote within a device range for proper device control. If not, the remote signals will not reach the Firestick receiver. The ideal distance to use the remote is fewer than 10 feet from the Firestick. So, move near to the Firestick device and try controlling the device. The remote will sync with the device, and the green light may stop. If not, move to the next fix.

Clean the Firestick Remote

Clean the Remote to Fix Firestick Remote Blinking Green

Since we may leave the remote in an open zone, there is an increased chance for the tiny particles to settle on the remote. The dust may block the IR sensor or remote button functionality. The dust accumulation on the remote’s IR sensor may unpair or unsync the remote from the Firestick device. So, pick a soft cloth and clean the remote components. If possible, dismantle the remote’s upper shell and clean the button gaps or other parts. Once done, check if the Firestick remote is blinking green. If it doesn’t stop to blink, try the next fix.

Power Cycle the Firestick

At times, the remote will blink green if your Firestick has some problems, making it unresponsive to the remote commands. This may happen due to cache accumulation or bugs on Firestick. To resolve it, power cycle the Firestick.

  • Unplug the Firestick power cord from the electric socket.
  • Wait for a few minutes to let the residual powers go down.
  • Plug the Firestick power cord back into the electric socket and turn it on.

Now, check whether the remote can function normally and whether the green light has stopped. If not, move to the next fix.

Replace the Remote Batteries

Replace the Remote Batteries to Fix Firestick Remote Blinking Green

Another reason for the Firestick remote blinking green is low or drained batteries. So, open the remote’s battery compartment lid and check the battery condition. If they are bulged or have insufficient charge, replace them with new batteries. Make sure to replace the batteries with new Alkaline batteries. Close the remote’s battery compartment lid and press any button on the remote. If the green light still blinks, try the next solution.

Re-pair the Firestick Remote

At times, the remote might automatically unpair from the Firestick, resulting in green blinking. It happens due to signal interferences, drained batteries, or other reasons. Nonetheless, re-pairing the remote will rectify the green light issue.

  • Pick the Fire TV remote and long-press the Home button for a few seconds.
  • Release it when the remote’s LED light starts flashing.

The remote will now pair with the Firestick. Once done, see whether the remote functions normally and the green light is not blinking. If not, reset the remote.

Factory Reset the Firestick Remote

If the green light keeps blinking even after pairing the remote, resetting the remote will help. Doing so will eliminate errors causing the remote to be dysfunctional. So, after performing a remote reset, pair it with the Firestick to make it work.

  • Firestick Basic Remote – Hold the Home button and press the Menu button thrice → Let go of the Home button and click the Menu button 9 times → Eject batteries from the remote and unplug the Firestick cord → After a minute, insert batteries into the remote control and plug the Firestick cord back in.
  • Firestick Alexa Voice Remote – Plug out the Firestick power cord → After a minute, hold the Left and Menu buttons for 12 seconds → After 5 seconds, take out the batteries from the remote → Plug the Firestick power cord and turn it on → You can see remote can’t be detected message on the screen.
  • Other Firestick Remote – Plug out the Firestick power cord → After a minute, Left, Menu, and Back buttons for 12 seconds → After 5 seconds, take out the batteries from the remote → Plug the Firestick power cord back and turn it on → Insert batteries into the remote → You can see remote can’t be detected message on the screen.

Inspect the Remote’s Hardware Components

If your Firestick remote keeps blinking green even after resetting, examine the remote sensor. To do it, open the Camera app on your smartphone and point the remote facing the camera. Hit the remote’s Power button. The remote’s IR emitter is good if you can see the light through the Camera app while pressing the power button. Otherwise, the remote’s IR is broken. In such a case, the IR sensor can be repaired by submitting the remote to the Fire TV service center.

Contact the Customer Support

To repair or replace any component on the Firestick remote, you must seek Firestick customer support. You can reach the support team through their official website. The best idea is to visit the Firestick service center directly and submit it for servicing. The support team will inspect the remote and provide a solution. Also, you can claim a replacement remote if your remote lies under active warranty.

Try These Alternative Ways to Control Firestick

Sometimes, the remote repair process will take more time, and they may ask you to wait for a day or more. In such circumstances, you can control your Firestick using the following alternatives.

  • Use Remote App – Install the Amazon Fire TV app on your Android or iPhone and pair it with the Firestick. Open the remote interface and use the controlling icons to manage the Firestick functions.
  • Use a Mouse or Keyboard – If you own a Fire TV, locate the USB port and connect a keyboard or mouse dongle to it. With the help of the cursor shown on the screen, you can operate your Fire TV.
