As there are no physical volume buttons on Apple TV, you may think there is no way to turn up the volume without the Siri remote. Actually, there are many ways available. You can use your iPhone or iPad as a remote, a Bluetooth keyboard, or use the IR remote app on an Android phone to adjust the volume on your Apple TV. This guide shows a complete tutorial on all these techniques in simple steps.
Use an iPhone or iPad to Turn Up the Apple TV Volume
The Apple TV Remote feature is available on Apple devices running iOS and iPadOS. To use the remote feature, connect your Apple TV to WiFi, which should be the same as iPhone or iPad. You can either press the buttons or say a voice command to increase or decrease the Apple TV volume.
Apple TV Remote App
Swipe down the Control Center on your iPhone and hit the Remote icon at the bottom of the screen. You can also launch the Apple TV Remote app by navigating to the Control Center option from the Settings menu. After launching the app, tap the Choose a TV option at the top. Select your Apple TV device name from the list, and a Passcode will appear on your iPhone screen. Enter the Passcode on your Apple TV and tap Done.
Note: You need a physical remote to enter the Passcode to connect your Apple TV with the remote app. So, we suggest you use a keyboard or mouse to enter the Passcode on Apple TV.
To enter the Passcode on your Apple TV, navigate to Settings → General → Remotes → Select your iPhone name → Enter the Passcode and select Done. Now, a connected symbol will appear near your iPhone’s name on your Apple TV. Use the volume up and down buttons on your iPhone/iPad to control the volume of your Apple TV.
Using Siri on the Apple TV Remote App
Other than using the volume button, you can also turn up the volume on your Apple TV using Siri voice commands. To do that, press and hold the Side button on your iPhone to activate Siri. Then, say the command, “Hey Siri! Turn up the volume on my Apple TV to 30%.”
Turn Up the Volume on Apple TV Using HDMI-CEC
You can also turn up the volume on your Apple TV using your TV remote if you have enabled the HDMI-CEC feature on both devices. Enable the HDMI-CEC feature on your smart TV by referring to its user manual. Then, go to Apple TV Settings → Remotes and Devices → Enable the Volume Control option.
Once you enable the option, connect your Apple TV to the HDMI-CEC-enabled HDMI port on your TV. Now, you can control the volume of your Apple TV using your TV remote.
Use a Bluetooth Keyboard to Adjust the Volume on Apple TV
If you have a Bluetooth keyboard, you can seamlessly control and turn up the volume on your Apple TV. To do this, you need to pair the Bluetooth keyboard with your Apple TV. Now, tap the Settings option on the Apple TV’s home screen. Tap the Remotes and Devices option and click on the Bluetooth option.
