If your TV suddenly plays an advertising video when you are watching something, it means that your TV is in the demo or retail mode. You can easily turn off the demo mode on your Samsung TV using the remote by going to the System Manager settings. But what if you don’t have a remote? Here, we have explained alternative ways to turn off the demo mode on Samsung TV in the absence of a remote.
Use a Keyboard or Mouse to Turn Off Demo Mode on Samsung TV
Most Samsung Smart TVs come with a USB port at the back or side panel of the TV. Using that port, you can plug the dongle of your wireless keyboard or mouse into your TV. If you don’t have a keyboard or mouse, you can buy it from Amazon.
1. After connecting a wireless keyboard or mouse to a Samsung TV, turn it on.
2. The Smart Hub Home screen will automatically appear. You can use the keyboard or mouse to select the Menu button.
3. Then, select the Settings icon on the home screen and navigate to All Settings.
4. From the list of options, scroll down and select General.
5. Under the General section, click System Manager and move down to the last to select Usage Mode.
6. You need to enter the PIN to access the usage mode, which is usually 0000.
7. Then, switch the Demo Mode or Retail Mode to Home Mode.
Switch Off Demo Mode on Samsung TV Using Remote Apps
Another way to disable demo mode on Samsung TV without a remote is by using the remote app. You can install the official Samsung remote app named SmartThings on your Android (Play Store) or iPhone (App Store).
1. First of all, to control your Samsung TV using the remote app, your TV and smartphone should be on the same WiFi connection.
2. Launch the SmartThings app on your smartphone and select Devices at the bottom of the page.
Note: When the app prompts you to sign in, ensure you use the same Samsung account credentials as your TV.
3. Tap the + icon or Add Device on the Devices page.
4. Click on the Scan Nearby option, and the app will search for active devices nearby.
5. Select your Samsung TV from the list and wait for a moment.
6. Now, a prompt with a PIN number will appear on your TV screen. Enter the 6-digit PIN on your smartphone and tap Done.
7. Wait for a moment to allow the app to register your Samsung TV with it.
8. Once paired, you can see the Success message on your mobile screen. You can also rename your Samsung TV on the app and set it as a favorite.
9. Now, click on the Remote option to open the remote interface. Then, click on the Home button in the app to access the TV settings and turn off the demo mode.
Other than the official remote apps, you can also turn off demo mode using the IR remote apps. These are third-party apps that do not require WiFi to control your TV. You can use these IR apps when you don’t have a WiFi connection or have any WiFi issues. By installing these remote apps on your smartphone, you can directly control your TV without pairing using the infrared signals. Some of the IR remote apps for operating Samsung TV are as follows.
Change the Demo Mode on Samsung TV Using Physical Buttons
If you own an old Samsung TV model, it will come with multiple physical buttons on the TV panel. Using those buttons, you can open the Settings menu on your old Samsung TV and turn off the demo mode.
1. Press the Center button on the TV panel once to open the Menu.
2. Select the Settings option on the screen.
3. Scroll down to the last and select the Support option.
4. Select the Use Mode from the list of options and change the Store Demo option to Home Use.
