How to Program Dish Remote to Vizio TV
Based on your remote model, go through the steps to pair a Dish remote with your Vizio TV.
Program New Dish Remote
You can program the new Dish remote with Vizio TVs via Pairing Wizard or by copying the old remote button functions.
Pairing Wizard
Before heading to the steps, power on your Vizio TV and the Dish Hopper device.
- Hit the Menu button on the Dish remote. If your remote doesn’t have a Menu button, hit the Home button twice.
- Click Settings and choose the Remote Control option.
- Select TV under the Device section and click on the Pairing Wizard.
- Pick your Vizio TV brand from the list and tap the Next button.
- You can see a list of codes on the Dish hopper device connected screen.
- Complete the pairing process by following the on-screen instructions.
- Click the Volume or Mute key on the Dish remote to check whether the Vizio TV responds. If it does, click on the Finished option. If not, select Try Next Code and continue the pairing process.
Teach Commands
If you have a Vizio TV remote, you can copy its functions to the Dish remote.
- Using the Dish TV remote, go to Settings and select the Remote Control option.
- Choose the TV option under the Device section.
- Now, instead of selecting Pairing Wizard, select Teach Commands.
- Point the Dish and Vizio TV remotes facing each other.
- Press any button on the Dish remote. For demonstration purposes, we are pressing the Mute button.
- Long press the same Mute button on the Vizio TV remote.
- Press the Mute button until the Dish remote’s Mode button turns off.
- If the Mode button light turns off, it indicates that the function is copied successfully.
- Repeat the same process to copy the functions of other buttons.
Program Dish Network Remote
Dish remote models like Platinum, Platinum, and other old models can be paired with the Vizio TV using the remote codes.
Manual Code Entry
- While your Vizio TV is turned on, hold the TV button on the Dish remote.
- Release the button if the all-mode button (TV, SAT, AUX, DVD) stays lit.
- Enter the 3 or 4-digit remote code for your Vizio TV.
- Press the Pound (#) button on the remote.
- If the code is correct, the remote’s backlight button will blink thrice. If not, input another remote code.
- Finally, click the Power button, and your Vizio TV will power off.
Auto Code Search
- Long-press the TV button on the Dish Network remote.
- Release the TV button when all the Mode buttons (TV, AUX, SAT, DVD) light up.
- Press the remote’s Power button.
- Click the Up or Down arrow button repeatedly until your Vizio TV turns off.
- After it gets switched off, press the Pound (#) button to save the remote code.
