If you buy a new Acer TV and find the remote broken or missing from the box, it will be very annoying. Fortunately, you can control your Acer TV using the remote app on a smartphone. Use the Google TV App to Control Acer Google TV
There is no official remote app available for Acer TV. However, you can install and use the Google TV app, as all Acer TVs are powered by the Google TV OS.
1. As a first step, connect your Android or iPhone and Acer TV to the same WiFi connection.
2. Then, take your smartphone and download the Google TV app from the Play Store. The iPhone users can get the Google TV app from the App Store.
3. Once installed, launch the application and sign in with your Google account.
4. Click on the TV Remote option at the bottom right of the home page.
5. It will take you to the page where a list of active devices that are connected to your home WiFi network will appear.
6. Find and select your Acer TV from the list. If your Acer TV is not available on the list, confirm that it is connected to the same home WiFi network that your smartphone is connected to.
7. After you select your Acer TV, a pairing code will display on your TV’s screen.
8. Tap Pair after entering the pairing PIN on your smartphone.
9. Your TV will now be paired with your Google TV app, and a remote interface will launch on your smartphone screen.
10. Now, you can control your Acer TV using the options on the Google TV app’s remote interface.
Use IR Remote Apps to Control Acer TV
Other than the official Google TV app, there is one third-party app named Acer TV Remote. This remote app controls your Acer TV both using WiFi and infrared signals. So, if you don’t have a WiFi connection, you can use this app on an Android phone to control your Acer TV.
1. Go to the Play Store on your Android phone and install the Acer TV Remote App.
2. Launch the app, and a remote interface will appear on your smartphone screen.
3. Point your smartphone towards your TV and press the Power button on the remote layout.
4. If your Acer TV turns off, it confirms that your TV is responding to the remote commands. You can save the remote and press the Power button again to turn on your TV.
5. If your Acer TV does not respond to the remote app commands, click on the Try Next – 1 option. Repeat the process until you find the remote that controls your TV.
Once you find the correct remote, use the app to power up the TV, adjust the volume, and change channels.
