Changing the input is obligatory when using a streaming device or console on your Vizio TV. Press the input key on the Vizio TV remote control to switch the source. If you don’t have a remote, you can still change the TV input using alternatives. Most Vizio TVs come with the Input button on their panel, so you can press that button to switch the source. Besides that, you can change the input on Vizio TV using remote apps, voice commands, and a wireless keyboard or mouse.
Use the TV Buttons to Change Input on Vizio TV
All Vizio TVs come with physical buttons at the back or side panel. Depending on the Vizio TV model, the number of physical buttons will differ. For an old Vizio TV model, it will have 7 buttons such as power, input, menu, channel up, channel down, volume up, and volume down. You can press Input to open the TV source menu. Following that, press the Volume and Channel keys to scroll and select the required input.
On the other hand, if you own the latest Vizio TV model, it will only have a Power button. On those TVs, you can easily change the input by pressing the Power button via the automatic switching feature. If your Vizio TV doesn’t change its source, try the next method.
Change Input on Vizio TV Using a Mouse or Keyboard
If you have a wireless keyboard or mouse in your home, you can connect it to your Vizio TV to change the input. Once you connect the dongle of your wireless mouse/keyboard to the USB port on your Vizio TV, a cursor will appear on the screen. Now, navigate to click on the Home icon from the home page. Then, move to the Apps & Inputs section and choose your preferred HDMI Input from the list.
Switch the Input on Vizio TV Using Remote Apps
If you don’t have a keyboard or mouse, you can turn your smartphone to a virtual remote for Vizio TV and change the input. There is an official remote app for Vizio TV (VIZIO | WatchFree+), which you can get from the native app store on your Android or iPhone. To control your Vizio TV using this app, ensure your smartphone and TV are connected to the same WiFi.
After launching the app on your handheld device, hit the Remote option at the bottom menu and pair your Vizio TV. Once paired, you can change the input on your Vizio TV using the app’s remote interface.
Other than the official remote app, there are many other third-party IR remote apps available to control Vizio TV. These apps do not need a WiFi connection to control your TV, as they only use infrared signals. Hence, to use these apps, you need an Android phone with a built-in IR blaster. Some of the IR remote apps for your Vizio TV are as follows.
Install any of these apps on your Android mobile and use it as a remote. Thereafter, you can change the preferred HDMI source on your Vizio TV.
Change Input on Vizio TV Using Voice Commands
If you set up Alexa or Google Assistant on your Vizio TV, use the Microphone button on the remote app to change the input via voice command. To enable this feature, your Vizio TV should come with built-in support for voice commands.
To use Google Assistant, you must install the Google Home application on a mobile via the App Store or Play Store and have your TV paired. On the other hand, if you use Alexa, it should be paired with the Alexa app on your iPhone or Android. Once you connect your Vizio TV to smart speakers via the same WiFi network, you can change the TV input using the voice command.
