The Bose Soundbar Universal Remote is provided when you purchase any Bose Smart Soundbar. You can use it to turn on or off the Bose Soundbar with a single click. But what if the Bose remote’s power button is not working? No need to fret. This article teaches five easy techniques to turn on a Bose Soundbar without a remote.
Turn On Bose Soundbar using Power Button
Selective Bose Soundbars have a physical power button. You can find it on the top or side of the Soundbar. After locating it, gently press and hold the Power button, and the Soundbar will turn on. If you can’t find the power button on a Bose Soundbar, try other alternatives.
Power On Bose Soundbar using the Remote App
The IR remote app allows you to turn on a Bose Soundbar using an Android mobile. Ensure it has a built-in IR blaster to emit infrared signals to the Soundbar. If so, get the IR remote app on your mobile and open the remote tab. Aim the smartphone towards your Bose Soundbar and click the Power button. That’s it. Your Bose Soundbar will turn on. If it doesn’t work, choose a different remote in the app and repeat the process.

If your Bose Soundbar supports WiFi, then you can use the Bose official app as a virtual remote. You can get the Bose app from the Play Store or App Store. All you need is to connect your Bose Soundbar to the same WiFi as your mobile phone. Then, open the Bose app and pair your Soundbar correctly. Next, press the Power button in the app to turn it on/off.
Switch On Bose Soundbar using Auto-Wake Feature
Some Bose Soundbars have the Auto-wake feature, and you can enable it to power on the device automatically. For example, if you connect your Bose Soundbar to the TV, it automatically turns on when it detects an incoming audio signal from the TV. Therefore, you don’t need to turn on the Bose Soundbar manually each time.
To enable this, go to Settings on the Bose app after pairing your Soundbar. Then, turn ON the Optical Auto-Wake feature in the Power settings. From now onward, if you play a media on your TV, the Bose Soundbar will turn on and play it.
Turn On Bose Soundbar using Voice Commands
Some Bose Soundbar models come with built-in Google Assistant or Alexa. Once you set up the voice function on the Bose Soundbar, you can turn it on by saying a voice command. For Google Assistant, say, “OK Google, turn on my Bose Soundbar.” For Alexa, say, “Alexa, turn on my Bose Soundbar.”
Power On Bose Soundbar using HDMI-CEC
With the HDMI-CEC feature, you can automatically turn on the Bose Soundbar when the TV turns on. For this to work, your Bose Soundbar must be connected to the TV, and the TV’s HDMI-CEC settings should be enabled.
On the other hand, you should enable Power Sync on your Bose Soundbar settings as well. To do this, open the Bose app and navigate to settings. Then, scroll to the Power section and choose Power Sync. Select the Sync with TV option. You have completed the setup. From now onward, if you turn on your TV, the Bose Soundbar will also switch on.
Apart from these ways, you can program a universal remote controller with your Bose Soundbar via remote codes. Then, turn it on using a universal remote’s power button.
